What this site is
medi-prep.com is an independent, free resource for students applying to medicine in the UK, Australia, and India, and for parents trying to understand the process. Every guide, tool, and data point on this site is designed to give you honest information — including information that is inconvenient or that most commercial services would rather you didn't know.
The site covers: UCAT preparation and school selection, the NEET landscape and overseas MBBS options, rejection and reapplication, parents' guides for all three regions, financial reality of medical education, and interactive tools for every stage of the application.
Who's behind Medi-Prep
Medi-Prep was founded and is edited by a practising doctor (MBBS) who is also the parent of a medicine applicant. That dual vantage point — clinical training on one side, sitting up at night with a UCAT past paper or a fee schedule on the other — is the reason this site exists. Most of what's published here started as a note written for our own family's decision-making, then rewritten so it would be useful to other families going through the same thing.
We've made a deliberate choice not to publish the founder's name, photograph, or location. This is a small, independently run site with no editorial staff beyond its founder, and identifying details would identify our own child's application — something we're not willing to do. We recognise this is a trade-off: named authorship is a standard trust signal, and we're asking you to take our credentials on the basis of a description rather than a verifiable public profile. In exchange, we hold ourselves to a higher bar on the things you can verify: every statistic on this site links to its primary source (see Sources & disclosure), every guide states when it was published and last checked, and factual corrections are logged, not quietly edited away.

How we research and fact-check
Every guide on this site starts from primary sources, not secondary summaries: official statistics from the UCAT Consortium and UCAT ANZ, admissions data published directly by universities, NEET results from the National Testing Agency (NTA), FMGE pass-rate data from the National Board of Examinations (NBE), and UCAS's own sector statistics. Where a claim can't be traced to one of those, we either don't publish it or we label it explicitly as our own analysis rather than a verified fact.
Guides are re-checked on a rolling basis whenever the underlying data changes — a new UCAT testing cycle, updated NEET cutoffs, a revised FMGE pass rate, a medical school changing its entry requirements. The "Published" and "Updated" dates on each guide reflect this: a guide with an old "Published" date and a recent "Updated" date has been re-verified against current numbers, not left to go stale.
We do not use AI-generated statistics, invented case studies, or composite "typical student" stories presented as real individuals. Where we don't yet have primary-source data of our own — for example, real cost interviews with families who've been through overseas MBBS programmes — we say so, rather than fabricating numbers to fill the gap.

How the site is funded
medi-prep.com is free to use. The site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. These ads are Google's standard contextual advertising — we do not control which specific ads appear, we do not receive any payment for endorsing products, and ad revenue does not influence the content we publish.

We make every effort to keep the information on this site current and accurate. Medical school admission requirements, UCAT thresholds, FMGE pass rates, and fee structures change annually. Where possible, we link directly to the primary source so you can verify the most current figures.
Nothing on this site constitutes professional advice. Admissions decisions involve factors specific to your individual application that no general resource can fully address. For decisions involving significant financial commitment — particularly overseas MBBS — we strongly recommend verifying all information with the institution directly and, where possible, speaking with graduates of that institution.
If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, email corrections@medi-prep.com with the page and the correction. We aim to acknowledge corrections within a week and will update the page's "Updated" date once the fix is live. We don't silently rewrite guidance after it's been read widely — material changes get a visible date update, not a quiet edit.
